weekend round up 2.28

popped into jcrew this weekend. they have some really beautiful spring dresses, cardigans and jewelry but the thing i love most about their collection is how wonderfully they style everything. how about the pretty one shoulder dress layered with a gi-joe button down and capped off with some brown loafers? perfect.

inspired by... designer mood boards

big thank you to my friend lisa for sharing some of my favorite designers moodboards which inspired their 2010 fall collections. i think newcomer (and former oscar de la renta intern) wes gordon's is my favorite. it was inspired by all the beautiful girls he knows... or wishes he knew. i'm loving his collection too - can't wait to see what else he does.

"these women exude a modern elegance." - wes gordon

"the collection is what the vena cava woman wears to the cabin upstate." - vena cava

"my fall 2010 collection is inspired by irving penn, by both his work and personal style." - jason wu

"for fw10, our collection revolves around the elements reveal, conceal, wrap, gap, clean and texture." - preen

"it's like a blank page... look at it one way, it's empty. look at it another way, and it's full of possibility." - erin wasson

"the fall collection references england in all its colonial glory, in contrast with the people of the himalayas." - rag & bone

this is lovely: couture headbands

thanks to megan rae for tipping me off to the amazing work from lauren nicole accents. her handmade headbands, topped with lace, silk chiffon and raw edged flowers create a beautiful vintage look. some of the design elements even hint at a chanel inspired aesthetic. the best part - the headpieces double as belts and bracelets. so if you're not feeling the boho hippie look you can add them to your outfit in a more traditional way. her fall collection also boasts a few headbands that would make blair waldorf proud. you can purchase online here.

luxe for less: military style

i really love all the military inspired clothes for the spring. try these pieces for a look that doesn't carry the same hefty price tags as the army gear marching along the runway.

this is lovely: red hair

i read this post from hannah & landon awhile ago and i've been collecting photos of red hair since. isn't red hair a tad more special since not everyone can pull it off?

luxe for less: jimmy choo rain boots

ah rachel bilson. one of my celebrity style crushes. those jimmy choo croc embossed hunter rain boots are perfect for the snowy and rainy days ahead, but $395 is a hefty price to pay just to slush around in the snow and jump in rain puddles. here are a couple of options that will keep your bank account in check and your feet dry this spring.
