{outfit post - camel cords}

{forever 21 high waisted corduroy shorts, urban outfitters white tank, urban outfitters blazer, vintage sunglasses, vintage and h&m bracelets, forever 21 necklace, pura lopez blush suede wedges (similar here)}

these high waisted corduroy shorts were one of my first fall purchases. since they are a fall fabric but a summer cut they seemed like the perfect transition piece. i wore them last weekend with some breezy white pieces and wedges, but i can't wait to wear them this fall with chunky sweaters and booties.

ps - another little white dress here
ps - thanks to miss taylor for taking this photos

retro 40s glam

40s retro glam

the 60s and 70s are my two favorite decades for fashion inspiration. i love that the trends are based around casual glamour and a no-muss-no-fuss attitude. and while i'll always be most comfortable in a boho dress and super flare jeans, i'm having a bit of trouble resisting the 40s style looks that are popping up this fall. the fitted silhouttes and structured accessories definitely aren't about easy glamour, but what girl doesn't like to look like a lady every once in awhile?

{from top left, clockwise:}

ps - big thanks to minh of be in style for featuring a lovely escape in her best of the web!

peach green iced tea with mint

with summer winding down i'm on a mission to make the most of the season's best produce while i still can. last weekend we picked up a pack of fresh peaches from the farmers market and i decided to use a couple of them for some iced tea. i followed this recipe from martha stewart weddings but substituted white tea for green, added some mint leaves and quadrupled it so that we could drink up this just-sweet-enough treat all week long.

summer street style

of course i always love the sartorialist, but does anyone else think that the shots this summer have been particularly exceptional and inspiring?

ps - i am sharing my favorite purchase from this summer and how i plan on transitioning it into fall on katherine's blog today - get dressed. pop on over and say hi!

{outfit post - pink lady}

{urban outfitters crepe v-back dress (on sale!), anthropologie military jacket (similar here), pura lopez suede blush wedges (similar here), michael kors watch, anthropologie necklace, vintage and h&m bracelets, urban outfitters sunnies, mac pink nouveau lipstick}

saturday night the bf and i went for a low-key al fresco dinner at a neighborhood italian spot. i wore one of my favorite blush dresses with a deep v-back and topped it all of with a military jacket that helped make it less sweet and more casual.

{outfit post - blues}

{james jeans humphrey flare in teal (on sale!!), zara ivory pussy bow blouse (very similar here), steve madden heels, forever21 leopard belt, michael kors watch, revlon orange flip lipstick}

while i love a nice pair of skinnies (case in point, yesterday's post), a pair of trouser jeans definitely fits me best. so this fall's trend of high waisted and super flared blues has me anything but blue. this james jeans pair (now on sale) have been in constant rotation this summer and i'm hoping to add one more pair of 70s style denim (like these) to my closet this fall.

{outfit post - pekaboo}

saturday night a couple of us chicago bloggers went out for drinks with anh from 9to5 chic and her husband who were visiting from san fran - both were as sweet and fun as you would expect! the weather was cool and rainy which means i wore my blazer most of the night, covering up my favorite part of this top - the peekaboo back. i'm a sucker for tops/dresses with surprise cutouts and dips in the back.

ps - anna and i snapped these pictures in front of the donut vault which i've wanted to try all summer. their hours are from 8am to 'sold out' which usually means around 10am. they must be serving up something pretty delicious! have you been yet?
